India WI - 1st Test day 1/2 highlights

Pathetic batting performance, with complete lack of application to the task. The boys are still in the 1 day mode chasing all outside deliveries, trying to hit sixes. 9 wickets fell on day 1. After day 2 , WI are 318-6 in response to 241/all out. Save the match guys...

"Murder" in the Carribean - Bheegey Hont

India is in the pits now 183/7 (71.4 ov) (1983 world cup final score, and no Kapil) . Ironically yesterday someone asked me to post this song from the movie Murder, premonition perhaps..

Chappel's underarm delivery

This should go down in history as the lowest point in his cricketing career. Australian captain Greg Chappel instructed his brother Trevor to bowl an underarm delivery against New Zealand in the Benson and Hedges ODI finals, thus ensuring the Australian team would win the match and avoid a tie. This happened on Feb 01, 1981. Aus 235/4, NZ needed 6 runs of the last ball.

Superb catch (Ind-Pak)

This is probably one of the best catches in history. Enjoy it before tomorrow's Ind-WI test match.

India- WI Series Statistics

After this series Dravid's captaincy record now reads - 25 wins, 18 losses and 1 No Result out of 44 since December 2000. The last 4 matches ending up as losses.

For West Indies, it was their 50th win against India in 83 matches (31 lost, 1 NR and 1 tied).

West Indies' win by 19 runs against India at Port of Spain on May 28 was their 300th victory in ODIs (217 lost, 17 NR and 5 tied out of 539). In doing so, it became the third nation to record 300 victories in ODIs, joining Australia 381 and Pakistan 341.

On the other hand, India earned a dubious distinction of becoming the first country to lose 300 games in One-Day Internationals (296 wins, 24 No Result and 3 Tied out of 623).

Brian Lara has now won 46 out of 96 played between 1994-2006

Chris Gayle (51 off 61 balls) posted his 26th fifty. During the just concluded series, he made 260 runs at an average of 52.00 and at a strike rate of 77.61.

Ramnaresh Sarwan has now aggregated 814 runs against India at an average of 74.00. Sarwan top scored in the series on either side, amassing 273 runs in 5 matches at an average of 91.00 (strike rate 72.80). He was justifiably adjudged the Man of the Series, apart from receiving two Man of the Match awards during the series.

Virender Sehwag bowled splendidly to concede just 29 runs in his ten-over spell at an economy rate 2.90 which was the best of his career in a ten-over spell. It was the third time in his career that he was dismissed in the nineties .

Ajit Agarkar (9 wickets at 18.11) was the leading wicket-taker on either side in the series.

Jerome Taylor (3/48) registered his best figures against India - his second best in ODIs, next only to his 4 for 24 against Zimbabwe at St.John's on 30.4.2006.
